Scholarships

Scholarships are cash awards that do not need to be paid back. Scholarships are awarded for academic merit or other criteria.

Scholarships can be divided into two general types

Specialized Scholarships, these may be awarded to students who win a competition, such as an Essay competition.
Merit Based Scholarships, are awarded by educational institutions, corporations, and any third party organizations to award academic excellence or some other distinction.

Resources for Scholarships:

One resource for students that goes unused is LOCAL scholarships. A student's school consoler should have a listing of local scholarships.

In addition, online resources are a great source to find scholarships.
